Why journals stop
Four ways a journal dies.
Writing essaysLong entries feel good for a week. Then you skip a day, then a month.Fix: six columns.
Only after lossesThe journal turns into a list of bad days, and you stop opening it.Fix: every trade.
Judging by P&LA lucky win teaches the wrong lesson. A clean loss looks like a mistake.Fix: grade the plan.
Never looking backEntries pile up and nothing changes, so it feels pointless.Fix: a weekly review.
The habit, kept for you
Journalcade turns it into a game.
Checking in, journaling and reviewing earn XP. Profit and size never do, so the habit is what you level up.
- A morning check-in and an end-of-day review, with a report card
- Streaks for the days you kept the habit
- Levels and a monthly season that reward the process

Questions
Quick answers.
How long should an entry take?+
Under two minutes a trade. If it takes longer, you’re writing an essay, and essays are the first thing people stop doing.
Should I journal every trade?+
Yes, the small ones too. Patterns hide in the trades you thought didn’t matter.
What if I miss a day?+
Don’t backfill everything. Log the last few trades properly, give older ones just the numbers, and carry on today.
Spreadsheet or app?+
A spreadsheet is fine to start. An app helps when typing becomes the reason you skip it. See the difference.
Will a journal make me profitable?+
Not by itself. It shows you what you actually do, which is where every change starts.
