A trading journal template
you’ll actually use.

One row per trade. Six columns you always fill, the rest when you have time. Free for Excel and Google Sheets, no email needed.

CSV · opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers ·

What goes in it

Six columns. Two minutes.

Fill these six on every trade. Tick them off to see how short a real entry is.

Your minimum entry0/6
Entry done. That’s the whole habit: six columns, every trade.

The template has a column for each. Leave them empty on busy days.

What’s R?
+$150÷$100=+1.5R

Your result divided by what you risked at your stop. It lets you compare trades of any size.

Two filled-in trades · made up

A good trade can lose. A bad one can win.

Both trades are fictional. They show why the plan column matters more than the money column.

When the spreadsheet gets old

Journalcade fills in most of it.

The same columns, without the typing. You add the setup, the grade and a line or two, and the habit earns XP.

Questions

Quick answers.

Is the template really free?+
Yes. It’s a plain CSV file. No email, no account, no trial.
Does it work in Google Sheets?+
Yes. In Google Sheets choose File, then Import, then Upload, and pick the file. Excel and Numbers open it directly.
What’s the least I should write?+
The six columns above, in under two minutes a trade. A short entry you keep writing beats a long one you stop writing.
Why fill in a stop on every trade?+
The stop is your risk. Without it you can’t work out R, and you can’t tell a brave trade from a reckless one.
How do I look back over it?+
Once a week, with the weekly review template: twenty minutes, five steps.
